Job Industries that Will Guarantee you a Pay Raise Next Year
In 2016, unemployment rates continued to stay low, much lower than previous years. The problem is, however, that a majority of employees are not receiving pay raises or if they do, they are very small. There are a few jobs that will give you the pay raise you desire next year if you have the right qualifications.
Certified Nursing Assistant
The CNA, or Certified Nursing Assistant, ranked number 1 for the highest pay raise this year. With an 11% increase from 2015 to 2016 and healthcare jobs still in high demand, it is expected to continue the trend. A CNA is an assistant to a nurse; this means they report to the nursing staff but have hands-on relationships with the patients. They perform tasks such as taking vitals, providing grooming and helping the medical staff with any medical procedures that are necessary. CNAs can work in many different places aside from hospitals including nursing homes, assisted living centers and adult daycare centers.
Electromechanical Engineer
The Electromechanical Engineer deals with robots and other complex mechanical equipment. They not only operate them, but also test and repair them as well. This year this field saw a 9.3% pay raise. The continuance of the demand in this field is very positive since manufacturing continually becomes automated, which leads to a higher demand for workers that can not only oversee the automation, but test and repair it as well in order to keep operations running smoothly.
Sales Manager
Sales managers continue to be in high demand, especially as new products and technology become available. Sales managers oversee an entire sales team. They require a Bachelor’s degree and they help the team meet their goals. They also put strategies in place to help make the sales process easier for the team as well as analyze statistics to see what is working and what is not. Sales managers can work in almost any industry that involves sales with the potential to have job security and raises in almost any industry. The most popular industries right now include telecommunications and technology.
Network Engineer
As more and more businesses become dependent on computers and computer networks, the network engineer continues to be in hot demand. With almost an 8% increase in pay from 2015 to 2016, the trend is expected to continue. The network engineer not only supports a network, but also plans, strategizes and puts into place anything necessary to make the network operate efficiently and effectively for companies of all sizes.
Registered Nurse
As probably guessed, nursing continues to stay in high demand. The healthcare industry is not going anywhere so the demand for professionals continues. With a 7% increase in pay from last year to this year, nurses continue to see higher pay year after year. Registered nurses can conduct more in-depth procedures for patients than a Certified Nursing Assistant, but they also require more schooling. Nurses can provide medication, assist with procedures, oversee a person’s recovery as well as discuss a patient’s status and options with other medical professionals.
The two industries that have the highest likelihood of continuing to see pay raises into the New Year are healthcare and technology. Professionals with a college degree that pursue jobs in these industries have the highest likelihood of continuing to see high paying jobs with regular raises. These are two industries that have not seen a decrease in need or pay in many years and as both healthcare and technology advancements take place, the need for professionals in these industries will continue.
